Great Firewall of China: how it works, how to get around it
Great article about the Great Firewall of China. Goes into the network plumbing behind it and how folks evade it.

Surf Quietly
I did a talk on using the internet safely and securely using tools like Tor, TrueCrypt, AES encryption, HTTPS Everywhere & SSL Observatory, etc. It was held at Ada Books in Seattle and had a standing room crowd!
No, it wasn't videotaped but my slides and the links are online.

Use Tor to Protect All of Us
Using Tor when you surf, if even for an hour at a time, strengthens the it for everyone. The more traffic in the Tor network, the harder it is to monitor and censor any one person. So try to use Tor at least some of the time when you surf.

"An Introduction to Tor", a video talk
This is a talk I gave about Tor, The Onion Router. I discuss how Tor works, the topology, servers (bridges, relays, & exits), and just what Tor does and doesn't do.
I cover some of Tor's weaknesses and vulnerabilities and best practices.

Search Engines That Respect Your Privacy
Unlike Google there really are search engines that respect your privacy. Search engines that don't track, store, and sell your every move online.
Try some of the search engines that respect your right to privacy online.

Volunteer to Run a Tor Relay
Tor, The Onion Router, is an anonymizing network that protects your identity and guards your privacy. Use it, or better yet, volunteer to run a Tor relay.

#Anonymous Is Now In China Too!
#Anonymous is now active in China too! This is excellent!
If there’s anyplace that needs a little hacktivism it’s the People’s Republic of China. Someone needs to stand up to the PLA and hand them the ass whoopin’ they deserve.
We are Anonymous.
We are Legion.
We do not forgive.
We do not forget.
Expect us.

What's It Like Behind China's Great Firewall?
Just how bad is China's internet censorship? Read a Westerner's observations. Interesting read.

The Chinese Attack Tor
I'm a big fan of Tor and run both a bridge & a relay. Here's bad news but it sounds like a fix is in the works. More evidence why we need to keep our eyes on the Chinese. https://blog.torproject.org/blog/knock-knock-knockin-bridges-doors

DIY Secure Surfing Solution
You have no reason to trust the WiFi connection at your local coffeehouse. Unless of course you think China, Tibet, Iran, and other rogue nations don't censor the web.
One solution is to setup SSH Tunnel + SOCKS Proxy Forwarding.
Now I have something else to do with my "extra" servers (in addition to Tor).

Seattle Dharma Punx
I (finally) sat with the Seattle Dharma Punx for the first time tonight. I attended their annual intention setting ceremony. Me? I vowed to love my enemies so that they might teach me.
Fitting, given that I spent today tweaking both of my Tor boxes *and* sent a video to friends in Dharamsala outlining my plans to take over the world with Tor among other things.
I've to two relays running now. I want to play with both bridge relays and hidden services. Squid proxies (for Iran) and OpenVPN too.
"PC" as in political computing!

Support the Iranian Protesters
Our sisters and brothers in Iran need our help. Their government is not their friend or ally. The first thing we can do is change our Twitter location and time zone to Tehran so the authorities have a harder time tracking them. Do it now!
Consider setting up a proxy server and/or a TOR server too.
All power to the people!,
