Thanksgiving Movie Suggestions

T'giving is one of my favorite holidays. Family'n'food. This year we ain't hosting, there are three count 'em 3 grandkids to hang out with, and I don't do diapers.

No matter what your plans there are two wonderful Thanksgiving movies I highly recommend: "What's Cooking" and "Pieces of April" You can thank me later.

2011 Buddhist Calendars (free download)

After years of making calendars for Azalea Software I finally made some for JetCityOrange.

These free 2011 calendars all have Buddhist-inspired photographs. They're PDF files so you can download them and print them yourself.

One image is of a cairn, another is "The Angel of Kyushu" a statue in the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, and the last is entitled "Mala With 3 Jewels".

Be sure to tell your friends to go get theirs too!

Write-in Candidate for King County Prosecuting Attorney

My name is "Elmer J Whiting III", I live in King County WA and I'm writing myself in as Prosecuting Attorney. My qualifications? I try my best to live by The Five Precepts and I fully embrace the Black Panther Party's 10 Point Program and by extension the White Panther State/meant. I am a proud revolutionary Buddhist and feel I would be a good Prosecuting Attorney. As long as non-lawyers can serve.

Online Meditation Timer for Cell Phones

Now you can use your cell phone as a meditation timer. No application to install, it's a web page that works with phones with browsers including Android phones, iPhones, Blackberrys, and other feature phones.

If you meditate you can use this page to time your meditation sessions. There are also ambient noise files (white noise, pink noise, & brown noise), video of the surf, and an FAQ.

Nov 2 Video

Keep the word "compassion" in mind as you watch this. Remember that feeling on Nov 2.

How to Build a Kite or Balloon Camera Rig - wikiHow

If you've ever thought about putting a camera or GPS up in a balloon or attached to a kite, you'll have to figure out how to attach it. I discovered the picavet cross used in Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) and made my own out of recycled materials and misc. hardware store parts for under $10. It worked too!

DIY Picavet Cross for Balloon Photography

A few weeks ago I did aerial photography shooting video with my Canon camera. I used a homebrew picavet to hold the camera and helium balloons. This is like Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) but with balloons.

Onaway Elementary School class photos 1961-1966

I went to Onaway Elementary School in Shaker Heights OH. I just uploaded my class pictures from 1961-1966.

See yourself in any of them? How many names do you remember as in "how many names have you forgotten?"

Homebrew Laser From A Dead Computer

I need this. I need to make me one of these. Or a couple of 'em.

I'll never look at another dead computer the same again.

Ghettolicious

Ghettolicious, adj. a DIY homebrew hacker design aesthetic characterized by reuse and recycling of cast off consumer gadgets and computers, Altoids tins, Arduino boards, solar power, and a liberal amount of elegant & creative juice. That's ghettolicious.
