Free Calendars from Azalea Software

SEATTLE-Once again, Azalea Software has release a series of four free calendars. The 2011 calendars are in PDF format and feature photographs with food visual puns. These free calendars can be downloaded from Azalea Software's website [ http://www.azalea.com/calendar/ ] and printed on any inkjet or laser printer.

For almost 10 years, Azalea Software's founder and owner, Jerry Whiting, has designed calendars from family, friends, and business partners. All except the first year's have featured Whiting's photography. Every year's calendar has a distinct theme. Past calendars have highlighted graffiti, neon, orchids, and humorous signs.

"I've tried to quit making calendars a couple of times and my Mother and her friends insist otherwise. I'm not about to piss of my Mom and her friends." says Whiting. "Last year we stopped printing physical calendars due to rising costs. Instead we gave the calendars away online. Not only did we save money, we were able to share them with countless people around the world. The response was overwhelming!"

The 2011 calendars are one page, feature all the major holidays as well as the Azalea staff's birthdays, and offer humorous images throughout the year. [ Facebook photo gallery ]

The calendars' names hint at their punchlines: key lime pi, nuts & bolts, diversity fish, and hot duck.

Download one or download them all. Link to them on your Facebook page. Give them away to strangers. Make your own if you think ours stink.

Azalea Software [Seattle WA], founded in 1992, sells barcode fonts and barcode software. They maintain The Barcode FAQ and have been known to mouth off in their blog, BarcodeNerds.blogspot.com

Azalea Software's Free 2011 Calendars

Once again Azalea Software, publishers of barcode software in Seattle WA, is giving away free 2011 calendars online. Because the cost of printing physical calendars grew too expensive, Azalea began distributing digital-online calendars in 2010.

All four of this year's calendars feature food, in the broadest sense. One is a hot devil duck, another nuts and bolts, the third features diversity in goldfish, and the last is a rebus you'll have to see for yourself.

The 4 calendars are in PDF format and can be downloaded and printed on any inkjet or laser printer.

How to Build a Kite or Balloon Camera Rig - wikiHow
If you've ever thought about putting a camera or GPS up in a balloon or attached to a kite, you'll have to figure out how to attach it. I discovered the picavet cross used in Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) and made my own out of recycled materials and misc. hardware store parts for under $10. It worked too!

DIY Picavet Cross for Balloon Photography

My first 2 balloon video flights

I built a picavet rig to stabize the camera. And it worked!

You all know I love barcodes. Can't get enough of them. I'm not a game player. That is until I discovered Barcode Beasties.

Download Barcode Beasties from the Android Market, scan a barcode to configure your monster, and then FIGHT!

Unlike older barcode games, Barcode Beasties doesn't require a special handheld device or decks of cards you have to buy. Use what ya got and play with barcodes. What could be better than that?!

Microsoft Street Slide, new and I want it!

A great way to navigate panoramic views using a more intuitive UI. It's like pressing your face against the car window while someone drives you down the street.

How odd they've ported it to the iPhone. Why not the Kin? And how soon before Google Maps not only copies this but does them one better with a new and improved street view?

I-Dose. Another word for binaural beats

Oklahoma parents have been warned that their kids are getting high listening to digital drug music found on the internet. They call it "i-dose". The rest of us call these "binaural beats".

I've been providing free binaural beat MP3 files on JetCityOrange for years now. People from all over the world download and use them. They're mediTAtion aids, not mediCAtion.

My response? To write a web page about i-dosing.

I know it's $8000 but it's all I want. I don't need any other presents. And I know I'm Buddhist, not even a plain vanilla, non-church going Christian. Did I mention I've been a good boy?

China Objects To Obama Meeting the Dalai Lama

His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be in the US in Feb and May. China has warned Obama about the consequences if he meets the Dalai Lama.

To quote Zhu Weiqun,  "We will take corresponding action to make relevant countries see their mistakes."

Nigga, please. Fuck you. What possible threat do you see in a 74 yr old monk? Probably the most beloved man on the planet. Mr. Love and Compassion himself.

Let me hazard a guess: acknowledging and embracing the Dalai Lama is tantamount to admitting your failures not only in Tibet but to your very core.

Cowards...

Dalai Lama Interview re: China

Oh great. Now Obama's pro nuclear.

We've been had. Barack likes nukes. Wants more. Thinks they're the answer to our energy problems.

Does the term "half life" mean anything to you? How about cancer? Security threat? Wrong solution to the energy problem on every level?

Let me state this again in no uncertain terms: I voted for him but only as my compromise candidate. Oh he's cute, oh he's eloquent but he ain't no progressive. He's nobody's revolutionary leader. That's why it's so funny when the Right calls him "socialist". I wish!

Bruce Schneier on Gmail's back door & China hacking

Noted cryptographer Bruce Schneier talks about the backdoor Google built into Gmail that Chinese hackers recently exploited. If this is true, it means Google did a deal with the devil in order to enter the Chinese market.

No wonder Sergy was never comfortable with the deal. It's about fundamental principals of freedom and liberty not profits or stock price.

So GOOG is this true?

Are you ready to abandon Internet Explorer yet?

First Germany and now France. Why is it that Europeans are blowing the whistle on Internet Explorer's inherent insecurity and the rest of the world is asleep at the wheel? Let me repeat what's been said before: IE isn't secure. Microsoft has little incentive to make it so. There are better alternatives. You need to be using them.

China hacked Google piggybacking on IE's flaws. Don't get caught in the same trap.

You've been warned...

An Open Letter to Google re: Chinese Net Censorship

Google, China, and Net Freedom

Google talks about China's cyberattacks

"Don't be evil." Beijing are you listening? Google is standing up to you. And now Yahoo! too. Hillary's even checked in.

We're tired of your net censorship. We're tired of watching you oppress your own citizens. We're tired of waiting for you to grow up and act like the global citizen you claim to be. And we're definitely tired of you messing with Tibet. Simply put, we're tired of your sh*t.

Hats off to Google for standing up to the Chinese government. If it means Google leaves China, so be it.

Let's help open the net by providing tools and resources like Tor and FreeGate.

All power to the people!

Apple Censors iPhone Apps in China That Mention the Dalai Lama

So Apple appears to be bowing to China's will and censoring iPhone apps that mention the Dalai Lama.

Why? Because he's a military threat? A counter-revolutionary force (odd coming from such unabashed capitalists as the PRC)? Or perhaps because they're afraid of the truth...
